1. What is phishing website scam?

Phishing websites are a type of online fraud where criminals impersonate real websites' URL addresses and page designs to trick customers into entering account information, passwords, private keys, seed phrases and other sensitive data, thereby stealing assets.

2. Common Scam Schemes

Scheme 1:

In digital asset transaction, it is most common for criminals to use gimmicks such as “arbitrage,” “high returns,” “airdrop bonus,” and “token listing events” to post false information on phishing websites.

Criminals use methods such as airdrops and rebates to lure customers into clicking phishing links or scanning codes to access phishing websites. These phishing sites often closely mimic the official website in both URL and page design to impersonate the official site and publish false information. Once customers enter these phishing sites, their account assets may be stolen.

Scheme 2:

Scammers impersonate official platform customer service and privately Message customers via IM (the built-in chat feature in the OKX app), citing issues related to platform accounts and other matters. They send phishing links to customers and, through IM voice calls/Messages, guide customers step by step to enter their account, funds password, etc. on phishing websites, thereby stealing asset.

3. How to prevent phishing websites?

Website verification

The DNS domain name system ensures the uniqueness of domain names, making it nearly impossible for customers to access fake websites when the domain name is genuine. Therefore, you can identify phishing websites in the following ways:

1. The platform reminds all customers not to click on unknown links or log in to unsafe websites sent through unofficial channels. Do not enter your account password or personal information from the platform to avoid being stolen by phishing websites or network trojans.

2. When logging into the website, do not use a search engine to find the URL. It is recommended to manually enter the URL. Official OKX website: www.okx.com (Please use Google Chrome to access)

3. If a user finds that they have accidentally entered a phishing website, please contact the platform's customer service immediately to resolve the issue and avoid unnecessary losses! The consultation method is as follows: Click the top left corner of the App 【Personal Center】 - 【Get Help】 - 【Online Chat】.

Official personnel verification

1. If you encounter so-called 'official personnel' via phone, email, website, WeChat, etc., you can go to the App Home, click the top left [Personal Center] - [Get Help] - and then click [Official Channel Verification] to authentication.

2. In IM chats, please look for the official blue badge. If someone claims to be an official representative but does not have the official badge, please proceed with caution.

3. OKX has an anti-phishing code feature. You can tap the top left corner on the App homepage to access [Profile] - [Security Center] - [Anti-phishing Code Settings]. After setting up your anti-phishing code, any email sent to you by OKX will include the code you set. If the email does not contain your anti-phishing code, it is a fake or scam email.

Important note

If you have accidentally clicked on a phishing website:

  1. Immediately change your login password and fund password.

  2. If your mnemonic phrase/private key is leaked, quickly transfer your assets to a new wallet.

  3. Contact official customer service to freeze your account (if applicable).
